Generally October is the month of woe for us gamers, with so many releases it makes our bank accounts weep. Hence it being dubbed ‘Broketober’, however for me it’s this coming June that is making me wince! So many games out this coming month that I’m actually interested in buying on release.
See below the cut for my top picks for various platforms:
- Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book (PS4 – Retail & PSN) – June 7 (NA), June 10 (EU)
- Odin Sphere Leifthrasir (PS4, PS3, PS Vita – Retail & PSN) – June 7 (NA) June 24 (EU)
- Grand Kingdom (PS4, PS Vita – Retail & PSN) – June 17 (EU) June 21 (NA)
- God Eater: Resurrection (PS4, PS Vita – PSN) – June 28 (NA) (Not available in EU)
- Prison Architect (PS4 – Retail & PSN) – June 28 (NA & EU)
- Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness (PS4 – Retail & PSN) – June 28 (NA)
- Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (Wii U 24/06/2016)
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine (31 May)
- SENRAN KAGURA SHINOVI VERSUS (1 June)
- Hard Reset Redux (3 June)
- Stranger of Sword City (6 June)
- Higurashi When They Cry – Ch.3 Tatarigoroshi (25 June)
Now, as much as I’d love to buy all of them, reality is a is a bitch! My bank account can’t handle that amount of abuse 😀
So, the ones I’ll be picking up are as follows:
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir
The kingdom of Valentine was the most powerful country on the continent of Erion. Its people thrived using the magical power of the Crystallization Cauldron, but it was destroyed in one fateful night. And so, a war over the now master-less Cauldron has begun, involving all the nations of the land and growing more intense by the day. Is the End near, as the Prophecy states?
To be honest, out of all the games out this month this is the one I feel is the weakest. On the one hand it’s got a pretty grim dub. But it’s got a lot of pedigree in it, so this could be one of those games that overcomes it’s flaws. Or it could fall flat on it’s face…
After the fall of the once-prosperous Uldein Empire over one hundred years ago, the Four Great Nations now wage war to claim dominion over the Resonail continent. Battles are no longer fought by honorable knights loyal to a nation, but by mercenaries who sell their services to the highest bidder.
As the leader of a mercenary squad, the player will lead their troops across a battle-scarred continent, overcoming obstacles and adversaries as they complete quests doled out by each nation. In doing so, they will unravel the mystery behind the downfall of a mighty empire.
With an impressive battle system that combines fast-paced action with strategic planning, and featuring robust character creation and customization options, Grand Kingdom is a Tactical RPG the likes of which has never been seen before. Assemble a squad of mercenaries, form an exclusive contract with one of the Four Great Nations, and participate in war with other players online for the future of Resonail.
But remember—in this new age of war, there is only room for one Grand Kingdom.
Oh yes the count down has begun!! I am SO looking forward to getting dug into this game! The beta had its flaws, which I’m hoping have been fixed. However even with those flaws this game has an addicting gameplay that makes me want to keep playing. While the four basic characters were a bit ‘meh’ the other classes that will be available look amazing!!
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE
An interdimensional evil has invaded modern-day Tokyo, resulting in this fantastical barrage of music, style, and yes, danger. So fight back! Battle through dungeons to pump up your strategy and creatively decimate your foes…before all hope fades to black.
I honestly don’t know what to make of this game, SMT meets Fire Emblem, and produces some sort of monster idol contest as a child. Out of all the games I’ll be getting this one is the one I’m most interested in. It’s got so much potential bottled in it, will this become a new IP? I damn well hope so!!
However I am not happy about the crap tonne of day one DLC that the game has. Though given it’s a sort of Fire emblem and SMT game I don’t know why I’m surprised. I just hope the DLC aren’t silly expensive.
On the other hand with this game my Wii U will now have an earth shattering 4 games that I own and play!!
Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
At this point in history, between the second and third games in the series, the Pangalactic Federation is nearing the fulfilment of its mission to bring peace and order to the galaxy. However, the embers of conflict begin to stir once again six thousand light years from Earth, on the planet of Faykreed, as a new story begins in the cosmic sea.
A new IP for me, I’ve never played any of the previous games, so I’ll be going in blind! I’m hoping for something along the lines of Xenoblade which has kept my occupied even now. After watching the vids for this game I’ve got to admit my interest is high.
So, those are the games that are going to be swallowing both my life and my bank balance this month! Which ones have you guys got you’re eyes on?
