Content creators on YouTube and other sites have had issues with Nintendo as it relates to monetization for years. We’ve also had similar issues and outright decided to limit our coverage of their first party titles. Titles like Xenoblade Chronicles 2, The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros. Well its seems like that’s about to change. Yesterday Nintendo announced a change in their policies to allow Content Creators to Monetize Nintendo Related Videos.
What this means is that videos made of Nintendo IPs can now be fully monetized if certain criteria are met. Services currently affected by this change include: Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, and Twitter.
Simple rules right? This is probably some of the best news we’ve gotten out of the industry all year, and it was a surprise. Usually when we create videos related to Nintendo products we just chalk it off as a loss. Now we can actually benefit from our hard work, which means you will begin to see more Nintendo Published games covered by us.
Now as this is a new policy we will be testing content first, but if all goes well look out for a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Review, and a few others. If you’re a content creator then you should visit their site for the official statement, and more information.
